Why does my roof leak?
Pitched / Sloping
The most common reason slate roofs need replacing is nail rot. The fixings used circa 1900 were steel, and with the moisture attacking the steel this then causes corrosion. This is more often the cause for slates to come loose and slide down your roof. A common reason that clay tiled roofs need replacing is the constant moisture soaking into the tile, come winter time when it freezes this causes the water to expand and eventually corrodes and cracks your tiles.
Flat roofs
Do not be tempted by “cheap quotes” to replace your flat roof…you really do get what you pay for!
